Company Profile


Formed using a collaboration of creatives from various diving and videography. Crystal Images have made it their mission to provide the best training in underwater cinematography and stills on Koh Tao.

Using a host of skills gained from over 15 years experience in the broadcasting industry, the team branched into underwater filming over 5 years ago and have created unique courses designed for a variety of applications.

Using Mac & PC workstations, with a whole host of software applications to bring the underwater world on Koh Tao to life, we can guide you through your training, culminating in a full HD portfolio that you would be proud to show any potential employer.

The Crew

Tim Long


Tim is never out of the water. Virtually every day, Tim is enjoying the dives and is never without a camera in his hands. Tim has been a dive instructor for several years and been an underwater videographer throughout.

Originating from Southern England. Tim took his cold water techniques and took them to new levels in tropical waters on Koh Tao. .
Tim has the ability to deliver High Definition films with daily deadlines to Open Water students, making his efficient workflow an admirable quality.

Steve McHale


Steve's eye for a unique creative angle made him a valuable asset to the Crystal Images collaboration.

Steve has settled in to a life on Koh Tao, where he spends most of his time creating new videography techniques for land and underwater.

Steve's constant appetite for new styles has him busy working on new innovative projects and teaching videography as well as PADI Self Reliant courses.

Simon Dowling


With over 15 years experience in the UK broadcasting industry, Simon is actively involved in a vast amount of projects for BBC, National Geographic, and other large broadcast corporations.

Recent UK underwater projects for programmes such as Blue Peter, BSAC's "Go Diving", National Geographic's "Red Sea Adventure", Dive Magazine's "Dive Aqaba" using a whole range of film techniques and post production work has ensured Simon is always in demand.

Recent land projects have involved post production work on a wide range of features, such as "Hello Kitty", "Nelson Mandela - The Last Mile", "Somewhere At Sea", and the ITV series "Missing".

Jennifer Dowling


Jennifer's role is in the pre-production and management of courses. With experience in a vast array of multi million pound projects in the UK and Middle East, her experience of pre-production, budgets, logging, and shot lists are essential for professional productions to control time and budget deadlines.

Jenny recently completed an award winning film about Coral Restoration that was widely appraised as "An amazing insight to Koh Tao's Coral Reefs". She leads an active role in Eco Koh Tao continuing to educate divers and non divers in good environmental practices.

Laura Theolier


Laura is Crystal Images craziest Underwater Videographer.

Laura has had full training by Crystal Images, and gained a full time position after her impressive skill flourished.

Hailing from France, Laura brings a unique flair to her videos. Even on her days off, she is barely out of the water.. and never without a camera in her hand..

She continues to strive for new innovative styles and underwater filming techniques.

Ashley Kirkham


Ashley is Crystal Images newest employee.

Training to instructor level at Crystal Dive Resort, Ashley then followed his passion for camerawork by completing the Pro Videography Course with Crystal Images.

We were so impressed with Ashley that he was offered a full time job.

He loves capturing footage of Turtles and Sea Snakes, but is still waiting to get film of the ever illusive Whaleshark.

You will find Ash at the bar most nights watching Open Water movies, or following his other passion.... Moto GP!!
